4-Day Mount Elgon Trek

Trekking Overview

To climb this extinct mountain is the experience of a lifetime, the 4-day hiking expedition of Mount Elgon. With Africa Adventure Safaris, take in the breathtaking vistas of Eastern Uganda while perched atop Mount Elgon. Trekking is made more pleasurable by the variety of wild creatures and birds that call Mt Elgon’s slopes home. Hiking in Uganda for four days begins and ends in Kampala.

Trekking Day-by-Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Kampala – Mount Elgon National Park

Head towards Mount Elgon, which is located in Uganda’s east. The Mountain boasts the biggest surface areas of all the world’s extinct volcanoes. The most breathtaking caverns, rocks, gorges, and waterfalls in the nation may be found on Mount Elgon. Stop for lunch in Mbale. Spend the night at the Sipi River Lodge or Sipi Falls Rest Camp.

Day 2: Kapkwai Trail

Remember to take your food with you when you leave after breakfast. Take the Mountain Bamboo track, which makes a 7-kilometer loop around the river and the southern lip of the gorge, starting at the exploration center at Kapkwai in the Chebonet Valley. Stay the night at the Camp of Rest.

Day 3: Sasa Trail

Take a full-day hike on the Sasa Trail after breakfast to witness the breathtaking views of the high altitude and moorland scenery. At the Rest Camp, have a satisfying packed lunch and spend the evening.

Day 4: Nature Walk – Return Trip – Kampala

This journey comes to an end when you return to Kampala after breakfast and take a little stroll in the forest.
