Trekking Day-by-Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Awakening at Kamorok Falls View Lodge

Imagine arriving at Kamorok Falls View Lodge to the smells of a freshly made breakfast. Having gained momentum, you travel at 6:20 a.m. to the Kapkwai exploration center, where our Sipi Trail adventure begins. The 11 km hike on this day should be quite strenuous, taking you up to the 2667 m Kajeri camp. The views of the mountains here are but a taste of what’s to come.

Day 2: Higher Grounds and Stunning Vistas

A substantial meal sets you up for the day as dawn breaks. The trail leads to the second Kajeri camp at 3383 meters, beckoning you to go further higher. From the ethereal Tutum cave, this 17-kilometer climb will test and reward you equally. Tell each other tales and hopes of future adventures as darkness falls.

Day 3: Delving Deeper into Mount Elgonā€™s Heart

Set out toward the Mude cave camp with the rising sun on your side. This 21-kilometer trip will take you to an astounding elevation of 3500 meters, with stops along the way to see the projected Muyembe camp. The Mude camp envelops you in its embrace as dusk descends beneath a starry sky.

Day 4: The Summit Challenge

Now is the time. Experience the excitement as you make your way toward the 4321-meter-tall, imposing Wagagai peak. You pass by notable locations along the route, such as the expansive Caldera Ridge and the Jackson Pool at 4050 meters. Return to Mude Camp after the thrilling 9-kilometer climb to the summit, feeling a great sense of accomplishment.

Day 5: A Graceful Descent and Fond Farewells

The prospect of one last adventure greets you on this final day. At 2900 meters, you can traverse the picturesque Sasa River Camp. At 2290 meters, the Mudangi Cliff presents a challenge. At 1770 meters, you will arrive at Bumasola hamlet. From there, a pleasant ride will take you to the Budadiri Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters, where a certificationā€”the last step of the five-day Mount Elgon Trekā€”waits.
