Situated at the Pangani River’s shores, Pangani is a town in northeastern Tanzania, approximately 45 kilometers south of Tanga. The town was founded before to the sixth century and is considered one of Tanzania’s historical towns. These days, Pangani is mostly a fishing village with lovely beaches for a peaceful getaway.
The primary source of electricity for Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Moshi is the Pangani waterfall. Along with being home to a considerable variety of birds and crocodiles, the Pangani River offers excellent snorkeling and dolphin tours at Maziwi Island.
A stroll about the town will transport you back in time, giving you the impression that you are exploring historic cities with some of their 200-year-old buildings on display.
Day 1: Zanzibar to Tanga Town
Travel from Tanga Town to Pangani. Pass by the Tongoni Ruins, which date back to the Huba uwajemi and Arabs of the fifteenth century. After that, continue to Pangani, a hidden coastal historical town in Tanzania, for a full day of sightseeing that includes lunch boxes and photo opportunities at some of the most extinct Arab, German, and British ruins from the colonial era. This includes dinner and an overnight stay at a beach hotel or lodge.
Day 2: Tanga Town to Pangani
After breakfast at 8:30 am, get ready to cross the Pangani River by ferry, drive, or bike to Richard Hindorl Tower, visit the factory and farm that introduced sisal to Tanga, Tanzania, hear from the local community about their way of life and origins in Swahili, have lunch in Ushongo Village to relax on the beach, see a turtle nest, go fishing, spend the evening swimming in the Indian Ocean, enjoy a beach bonfire, eat dinner, and spend the night at a beach hotel or lodge.
Day 3: Pangani to Tanga
After breakfast, depart for Pangani town at 8:30 a.m. and enjoy a river cruise, bird watching, a visit to a mangrove forest, a stop at Matakani village where you may meet locals and participate in fishing activities, as well as tasting coconut juice and coconut wine at Pangani River’s end. Following a humorous experience, eat lunch in Pangani and then depart for Tanga.
