4-Day Visit Mafia Island

Day 1: Arrival

Your driver will pick you up and take you to your hotel when you have cleared immigration and arrived at Mafia Airport. He will give you an overview of Mafia Island and all the unique features that this incredible island has to offer. All people aspire to be here!

Day 2: Explore Chole Island

Your guide will get you from the lodge after breakfast and take you to one of the historic islands. The sole fruit bat refuge in East Africa is most likely Chole Island. In addition, it is a perfect location for sunset sailing, meeting locals, and learning more about the slave trade market.

You will return to the resort for relaxation, dinner, and overnight after exploring all the key locations on the island.

Day 3: Whale Shark Swimming

Head out of the lodge for the whale shark excursion after breakfast! Seasonally, these stunning behemoths can be observed a few hundred meters offshore in the vicinity of Kilindoni Harbour. After a brief boat ride to the west, we arrive at a shark feeding area where fins and black shapes are soon visible.

Males, females, and juveniles, all exquisitely marked with stripes and spots, can be seen at any given time in groups of up to 24. The biggest sharks, which are thought to be over 8 meters long, are quite beautiful underwater and make an amazing sight adjacent to the boat. You can swim and snorkel to get a closer, underwater look at these amazing, peaceful creatures, and the boat can glide among them silently. The sharks follow a regular routine and stay in a clearly defined region.

You will return to the resort for relaxation, dinner, and overnight after having lunch on the sandbank.

Day 4: Mafia Island – Departure

The last day of Mafia Island is today. Visiting the closest towns and beaches, such as Miewe, Mvinje, and Mchangani, will be your way of saying farewell. You will be dropped off at the airport for your departure later in the day.
