Today you depart after breakfast to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Since this is one of the less known parks in Tanzania, it still has an authentic safari atmosphere. The hilly landscape scattered with grand Baobab trees against the blue sky is breath-taking. Witness the world’s largest concentration of elephants. Herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking or enjoying a mud bath. Apart from elephants, Tarangire is a paradise for bird lovers. In the area around these swamps you can also see lions, leopards, cheetahs and even tree-climbing pythons.

Breakfast. Set out for a full day of game drives in Tarangire. The park is famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. Visitors to the park in the June to November dry season can expect to see large herds of thousands of zebra, wildebeest and cape buffalo. Other common resident animals include water buck, giraffe, dik dik, impala, eland, Grant’s gazelle, monkey, banded mongoose, and olive baboon. Predators in Tarangire include African lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, honey badger, and African wild dog. Home to more than 550 bird species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts.

Depart for Ngorongoro Highlands/NCAA optionally via Lake Manyara Park for a short game drives, although small in size, this park is one of the foremost diverse reserves within the country. Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park. At the backdrop is the wall of the great valley, before which lies rock bottom water forest, areas of open grassland near the lake foreshore, and thus the Soda Lake. We enjoy a picnic lunch during this area, which consists of open grassy areas, hot springs, dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Lake Manyara Park could even be a birding paradise that has quite 350 species of bird. The park is additionally famed for its unique and elusive tree-climbing lions.

After an early breakfast, you will drive down the road that takes you into the Ngorongoro crater. The slopes are forested but soon the landscape changes to savannah. Here, the wildlife is just breath-taking and with a little luck, you can observe the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – in just a few hours. You should also see warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After dedicated game viewing and a picnic lunch, you will leave the crater and drive back to Melia Ngorongoro Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

Breakfast. Drive to Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge. From Naabi gate, you will continue on with your safari and you will be stopping several times for wildlife viewing en-route to your lodge/camp for check in and lunch. Afternoon game viewing in Serengeti.
